Welcome to                Ineffable Liminality

portrait smiling person natural

Greetings!  I'm Allie Brekke and I am glad you are here.  My intention is to hold gentle space for you so that your parts can feel safe enough to process what needs to be processed while being witnessed with loving acceptance.  I believe that you are the expert on you, and that your truest answers are within yourself.  It is my honor to help you hold your flashlight as we bravely navigate both light and dark terrain in your healing journey.

I mindfully chose the name "Ineffable Liminality".  When I think of the "liminal", I think of the powerful space between spaces, where one has left, but not yet arrived.  When I think of "ineffable", I think of experiences that are too deep for mere words to describe.  Together we can explore your ineffable liminality while unifying mind, body, and spirit.

Background

I am currently a graduate student earning my Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology (LMFT & LPCC track).  I am enjoying coursework in Therapeutic Communication, Psychodynamics, Multicultural Counseling, and Integral Yoga.  I am also in my Advanced year towards becoming a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP).

I have also benefited greatly from completing CIIS' Psychedelic-Assisted Therapies and Research program, MAPS' MDMA-Assisted Therapy program, Zendo's SIT program, iPEC's Coaching Fundamentals program, and Tam Integration's Fractal Inquiry program.  Additionally, I have loved learning more about Internal Family Systems (IFS) from Richard Schwartz and Bob Falconer, Compassionate Inquiry from Gabor Maté, Holotropic Breathwork from Stan Grof, Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy from Phil Wolfson, and Nonviolent Communication (NVC) from Marshall Rosenberg.

Prior to all this, I earned a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy, primarily working with individuals with disabilities.  I also completed a 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training.

I currently resonate most with the Wounded Healer and Seeker archetypes, and I am eager to learn more about the archetypes you resonate with.

In my free time I enjoy attending offerings at The Berkeley Alembic, Spirit Rock Meditation Center, The Portal Marin, and other consciousness-expanding opportunities.  I also love hiking with my puppy, practicing yoga, and traveling to experience other cultures.  I am nourished and nurtured by Pachamama, and hold deep gratitude and respect for her.

Disclosures

I offer somatic-informed sessions as a space for gentle self-exploration, nervous system awareness, and personal growth.  This work is rooted in supporting your connection to your body and your own inner wisdom.  While I am currently a graduate student earning my Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology and in advanced training with Somatic Experiencing, I am not a licensed therapist.  The services I provide are not psychotherapy, mental health treatment, or medical care, and do not replace working with a licensed mental health or healthcare professional.

Somatic work can bring awareness to sensations, emotions, and memories that arise in the body.  By choosing to engage in this process, you acknowledge that you are responsible for your own well-being and for communicating your needs, boundaries, and capacity throughout our work together.  You are always encouraged to move at your own pace and to pause or stop at any time.

I do not diagnose or treat mental health conditions.  If you are experiencing significant distress, trauma-related symptoms that feel overwhelming, or are in crisis, it is important to seek support from a licensed mental health professional or appropriate emergency resources.  I also offer psychedelic harm reduction and integration support from an educational and reflective perspective.  I do not provide illegal substances.  Any discussion of these experiences is intended to support meaning-making and integration only.

I will hold what you share with care and respect your privacy.  However, as I am not a licensed clinician, our work is not protected by therapist-client privilege.  I will make every reasonable effort to maintain confidentiality, with the exception of situations involving risk of harm to yourself or others, or where disclosure is required by law.

By engaging in these offerings, you acknowledge that you understand the nature and scope of this work and are choosing to participate voluntarily.  Because each nervous system and healing journey is unique, I cannot guarantee specific outcomes. If at any point your needs extend beyond my scope of practice, I may encourage you to seek additional support from a licensed professional.
